Saturday mornings
Wheels and Wheelchairs join the Easy Saturday Skate every Saturday morning in Battersea Park (unless it’s raining).
We meet in the Carriage Drive North car park, approached from the Queenstown Road park entrance, at 10am to put the wheelchairs together.
The skate itself sets off from the Pagoda in the park at 10.30am. It is a flat skate with decent surfaces and open to all levels of skater.
We skate two laps of the park, stopping on each corner so that everyone can catch up. A third lap is done without stopping. There is a bike rental near the car park if parents or carers would like to accompany the wheelchair user but do not skate.
If you would like to take part please contact us on 07919 497295 at least 24 hours in advance so we can make sure we have enough chairs and pushers.
Join us for our AGM, The Magic Garden, Wandsworth, 1.30pm, November 23

Brighton to Paris Paralympic Skate
Wheels and Wheelchairs is pleased to announce a skate from Brighton to Paris to celebrate the 2024 Paralympics and to raise funds for our unique disability-focused sporting charity.
This ambitious journey will take place from Saturday 24 August and will end in Paris on Wednesday 28 August, aiming to arrive in the French capital in time for the opening of the 2024 Paralympics Opening Ceremony. The route will take our 4- 6 wheelchair users, numerous skaters and supporters over 121 miles from Hove through Newhaven, Dieppe and Forge les Eaux.
The challenge retraces the spirit of the 2012 Paris to London skate organised by Mobile en Ville when a team of French skaters pushed wheelchair users from Paris to London, arriving on the eve of the capital’s 2012 Paralympic Games. The trip was made possible by the collaboration of skate crews from France, the UK and Belgium and inspired London skaters to start Wheels and Wheelchairs.
This year’s skate is not just a physical challenge but a dynamic team effort, woven with the spirit of inclusivity and endurance. Participants will have the unique opportunity to conclude their journey in the festive atmosphere of the Paralympic Games in Paris.

FORGET-ME-NOT SKATE, MARCH 16, 2024
We are delighted to be collaborating with charity Grief Encounter on our Forget-Me-Not Skate.
Grief Encounter supports bereaved children and young people. On the day we will be remembering our Wheels and Wheelchair friends who are no longer with us; Costas, Helen, Ricardo, Janet and Alan.
We invite skaters to join us on this special day to commemorate lost friends or family members. The skate will be two and a half hours long, starting at 1:30 PM at Battersea Park Pagoda, following a route to the Tower of London and aiming to finish back at Battersea by 4:00 PM. This will be a street skate that will be fully marshalled like Sunday Strolls.
If you are not a skater, you can still contribute to our special day by donating, or by sponsoring us. All money raised will go towards funding the Bereavement Support Services offered by Grief Encounter and the activities of Wheels and Wheelchairs.
